A place to relax

The Cottage at Ford Barton is situated on the Somerset/Devon border, on the edge of the small village of Churchinford in the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage has glorious views over the surrounding countryside but is just 300 metres from The York Inn, a warm and welcoming pub serving good home-cooked food, and the village community shop, run by volunteers but very professional and stocked with everything you might need including fabulous local meat and cheese.

Churchinford has many places of interest around. It is only 10 miles from the County Town of Taunton in Somerset and also the small market town of Honiton in Devon, noted for its antique shops and lace museum, and only 40 minutes from Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast. Exmoor and Dartmoor are both within easy reach for a day out as are several National Trust properties. If you are a cyclist or walker, quiet lanes in beautiful countryside are on the doorstep. If you have an aeroplane, Watchford Airfield is only half a mile away!

The Blackdown Hills are a quiet piece of England, unspoilt by the fast pace of modern life, off the beaten track and an area still largely unknown
